Long before the Civil War, early American History began with the first Native Americans who settled upon this land around 15,000 years ago. This Timeline provides history, facts and information about famous people, important events and key dates in chronological order. Discover the major events in the Indian history via this Native American timeline.

The Timeline has been built using TimelineJS which is an open-source tool that enables users to build visually rich and interactive timelines. The horizontal scrolling at the bottom helps to navigate through different time periods and the arrow keys help to traverse each entry chronologically. In order to populate the events, we have collected information from various sources: articles, letters, blogs, history websites and newspapers. The result is a compiled repository of historical events in different multimedia formats. The events are depicted by textual information, videos, images, letter excerpts, court orders or a combination of these. All the images have been saved and retrieved from a shared web space. However, the videos have been directly linked through Youtube.

The purpose of this timeline is to provide a linear understanding of the events which took place in the lives of the Indian tribes since the Stone Age. The impact that some notable events like the Civil War, the World Wars, the Treaty of Paris etc. had on their lives is less known. Through the timeline, we have tried to encapsulate this information belonging to different eras and define their relationship with the Indians during those times. In short, the purpose of the timeline is to be able to compare and contrast important events with relation to the others in history. The content used belongs to all the tribes collectively instead of focusing on the main three mentioned on the rest of the site.

This Timeline will help viewers develop a long-range understanding of historic chronology
